The biography presentation done with powerpoint was a great way to start the class. I was able to share a little about myself while learning some of the basic AND more complex skills done on powerpoint. I knew how to do a linear powerpoint just to present information to an audience, but I did not know how to create a non-linear powerpoint. With these, the view has choices on where to go next. The voicethread project was very cool to learn about. We began the project using picnik and flickr which lead us to the next half of hte assignment using voicethread. Voicethreads are a great way to share thoughts and ideas with others. Then, other viewers are able to give their opinions and record their thoughts. I think this would definitely be useful when networking with other PE teachers! There were some challenges with the tools but after trying a couple times and asking other collegues for help, I was able to figure it out. I did use some of the suggestions given by my classmates and made some improvements on this assignment. I think I had the most fun with this project! My husband and I are always making promotion videos for different things that we are involved in and it was amazing to see how fast I could put together a video using Animoto! It literally took my 5 minutes for something that would normally take us 3 hours! I will definitely use this to promote future units coming up, Field Day, etc. Animoto Video - Athletics Bring People Together
IMP's are not all that different from other projects that we help our students do, it just takes a little more up front planning since there are more things that the students need to be familiar with when using digital tools. It was very helpful to use the IMP Lesson Plan format to guide me when planning an IMP. It was nice to know exactly what my focus should be and all the things I needed to think about ahead of time before implementing an IMP. IMP Lesson Plan
I do not believe that everyone is ready to step into the technology age. It may take some convincing to implement IMP's in our school. It was very interesting and necessary to explore different reasons why we would even want to use IMP's. There will be a time when we will need to support our reasons for teaching our students through IMP's and present these reasons to administrators, students, parents, co-workers, etc. As I was laying out this persuasive presentation, it was very easy to see why so many people believe in IMP's and how they can be so beneficial to our students!
